Sex Education Season 4 Filming Begins: Major Update to Caerleon’s Site

WARNING: This article contains spoilers for Netflix’s third season. Sex education.

HIT Netflix show Sex education reportedly began filming its fourth season earlier this week – but without a major, notable series regular.

While the cast and crew gathered to begin shooting scenes for the series, it was a long way from Caerleon, which previously served as the main filming location.

With much of the first three seasons set at the fictional Moordale Secondary School, these scenes were filmed in the main building of the old University of Wales campus in Caerleon.

But, at the end of the show’s third season, it was revealed that the school would be sold to developers, with the characters having to find alternative educational arrangements.

Ironically enough, this situation corresponds to reality, as the Caerleon campus fell victim to the merger between the University of Wales, Newport and the University of Glamorgan – closing in favor of new sites in Cardiff and around the downtown Newport, and sold to property developers. red row.

But, the news that the site probably won’t feature in the new round of Sex education comes as no major surprise, as permission to shoot on location expired earlier this year.

So what’s going on in Caerleon?

Although there is no more filming here, the old nursing school remains a hive of activity at this time.

Following the university’s sale of the land to Redrow, plans to convert the site into 219 housing units advanced at a brisk pace.

So much so that some occupants of the new houses in the Parc-y-Coleg development have already moved in.

The site is already home to a range of three and four bedroom properties, and there are also active show homes available for viewing.

In total, there are expected to be 22 social housing units in the development, six of which have been designated as low-cost housing.

It is also understood that the main listed college building will retain its facade and be converted into apartments.

What have we said about the latest developments?
